Hello Lovelies!

Ah summer. It’s a lovely time of year. Sun, tan, flowers, walks.

Ok, back to reality.

Summer would be amazing if that were all it was. Unfortunately, for me anyway, it’s unbearably hot and humid. The bugs are terrible and the only time it’s actually enjoyable to be outside is if you’re in a pool.

However, I have beat the system a little bit with my dress/skirt wearing this season. It’s really helped a lot.

The trick is to not get bored of wearing the same thing over and over. I’ve had to think outside the box and try a few new and slightly scary things.

One of them is pattern mixing. I’ve really loved the way this trend has come about, but I’ve been really nervous about trying it. I decided to to try these two pieces together, simply because my wardrobe was getting a little drab. I’ve had them forever, I just never thought to put them together.

I really like the way it turned out. And I’m glad that pattern mixing is getting less scary for me. I just always remember the two rules for pattern mixing:

1. Find one color that is the same in both patterns.

2. Pair a big pattern with a small one.

Remembering these you can’t go wrong!

What about you? Do you like to pattern mix?
