Hello Lovelies!

Another week has flown by!

And I’ve discovered something about myself. I can do a lot more than I think.

This week, I decided to try something new. I packed up my camera gear, grabbed some clothes and shoes from my closet, and headed into town.

What was I going to do? Well, for some time, I’ve been wanting to take pictures in a new location. The backgrounds of my photos are always the same and they’re starting to get boring.

So, I drove around and stopped a few places and took some photos. I have always felt really awkward taking photos out in public. I mean, standing in front of a camera and taking pictures of yourself looks a little bit weird.

And I did get a few odd looks from people. But, for the most part, everyone was very nice. Which made me realize that the only thing keeping me from stepping out and trying this new thing, was me. I was afraid people would think I’m weird ( which, when said out loud sounds ridiculous, in case you were wondering ). I was letting other peoples alleged thoughts dictate to me what I was going to do.

I’ve also always felt weird telling people I write a fashion blog. Almost embarrassed. When people ask me about it, I answer them as if I’m apologizing for being so lame.

But, I’m not lame and fashion blogging isn’t weird. And I finally realized that. I’ve been reading an awesome book, How to Blog for Profit Without Selling Your Soul, and it’s like it was written with me in mind. If you would like to purchase it, click this link. It has been so helpful. Thanks to the author, Ruth Soukup, I’m finding my blog voice and getting over so many fears that have held me back.

So what about you? Have you ever been held back from something because of fear?

If you like what you see, please share!

  • I love reading about how you feel, because I am somewhat like that too. I started my blog at the end of last year and have slowly gotten more into it. I definitely feel weird taking pictures around other people, but I need to not let that bother me. Slowly I have been telling more people about it, but I think it's something that just takes time :). Do you shooot the pictures on your own? Your outfit is great for a casual Summer day, love the dress 🙂

  • You are hardly lame! I love your style! Actually I am going to copy your belted dress look today(: I have a new link up today called Charming Friday and I would love to have you stop by and link up! I am also giving away a $25 gift card to Mint Julep – where you got your fabulous wedges! Happy Friday! Susan

  • Congrats on being courageous! I've been taking my own photos for a while and, let me tell you, you get used to it. There will come a tim when you're super comfortable doing it by yourself (:

    I'm An Airhead. Oh Wow!

  • It is awkward at first taking photos of yourself out in public, but you do grow more used to it the more you do it. I really like both ways you styled this cute dress. SO adorable! Thanks for linking up with our first Charming Friday link-up! Hope to see you back this Friday. 🙂

  • I can't even decide which dress look is my favorite! Thanks for coming over and linking up at the Style Files! Lauryncakes

  • I love these two looks! Dresses and casual sneaker/sandals are one of my favorite combinations to wear.
