Hello Lovelies!

Sorry about being so MIA lately. Life can throw so many curve balls at you. I actually took the photos for this post about 2.5 months ago! Yeah, I need a better schedule. Do any of you struggle with that?

Anyway, we have all had the moment where we pull several things out of the closet and put them together and realize they are all neutrals. And then you just feel blah. Like properly and completely boring.

Well, at least I’ve felt that way. And yet, a good 75% of my closet is nothing but neutrals. And I keep gravitating towards them in stores and online. So, the next question is, how to style these without looking like a boring blob.

Have no fear! There is a silver lining to styling neutrals for work. You just have to add the right finishing touches that pull everything together.

1 | Pair two different patterns together.

My blouse and skirt both sport a vastly different pattern, but going along with the big/little pattern rule when mixing prints, my top and bottom are perfectly balanced, even though they are both recessive in their color scheme.

2 | Add a colorful accessory.

I’m not wearing one above, but some examples would include a brightly colored bag, unique shoes, or lovely piece of statement jewelry.

3 | Play up your makeup.

This one is a little bit trickier if you work in an office setting, but typically just adding a bold lip or doing up your eyes won’t be too over the top and will be very complimentary with your look.

Styling neutrals for work shouldn’t ever mean boring or sad. Instead, think of it as a challenge to break out of your comfort zone and try something a little daring. Please share your ideas on styling neutrals for work in the comments! I would love to hear them.
