Hello Lovelies!

When you work on a limited budget like I do, you have to find new ways of styling the same pieces. One way to switch up your closet a little bit is to wear your dresses in a way other than…well…a dress.

1. As a top. Any swing dress can be turned into a top by putting a pair of jeans underneath. And with this look, you can either wear it dressy like me or you could tone it down with some flats or sandals.

2. As a skirt. Who doesn’t love chambray? My chambray button down has been receiving a lot of love recently. It’s so versatile and works really well tied over a dress. You can also make this look dressy or casual. A more dressy look might be a loose sweater over a shift dress with heels.

How are you styling your dresses this summer?

  • Hi Ashleigh! Stopping in from That Friday Blog Hop! I like both outfits, but #2 really does it for me. Very sweet and summery! Great post and pictures! I feel like I ought to experiment with styling dresses more!

  • These looks are so cute!I have never tried either style so I am adding this to my to do list! I just bought a chambray top from J Crew and I love it paired with a dress!! Great idea! Thanks! Susan

  • I have a black dress very similar to this one and I wore it with black pants. I never thought of wearing it with light denim, but now I'm gonna give that a try. Great looks! Love them both!

  • Both outfits are super cute!! I love cinching a chambray over a dress!

  • Cute! I never wear dresses but this post makes me want to.

  • Love the chambray over the dress!

  • LOVE both of these ideas! I actually tucked a dress into jeans last fall and wore it as a top! Such a great idea!
