I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. That saying was never more apt than the day I took these pictures.
I like to take my pictures on sunny days, in the shade. That way, you get bright, clear pictures. The day I took these was rainy and grey. Not that I mind grey days, they’re just not the best when it comes to photography.
I literally drove around my town for 15 minutes trying to think of a place that had some kind of awning I could stand under. I finally thought of a park not far from my home and drove there. Of course, as soon as I got out of the car to start taking pictures, the rain stopped and the sun started to peak through the clouds.
But by that point, all I wanted to do was take the pictures and go home. The area where I was didn’t have the best background, but I had been shooting all day and was ready for a break. However, I kept thinking of that saying and that even though the situation was tough, I could always find a bright spot. The top I’me wearing from Arden also helped tremendously.
I wasn’t soaking wet ( I’ve had that happen before when I’ve been shooting ), I didn’t have to pay to park, there wasn’t any foot traffic, the awning I was under was very large and let lots of light underneath it, etc. There were a million things I could be thankful for. So, I stopped complaining in my head and started taking my pictures, making sure they were the best they could be.
So the next time life throws lemons at you be happy because, hey, free lemons right?
Further down there’s a really yummy recipe for lemonade!
What you will need:
– lemons ( I would recommend 6-8 per gallon of water, depending on how tart you like your lemonade )
– frozen, sweetened strawberries
– sugar to taste
Simply squeeze your lemons into the water and stir in sugar until it’s sweet enough for you. Add frozen strawberries. ( These will add more sweetness, so keep that in mind when adding your sugar. ) Put in fridge to chill for about two hours. Enjoy!
