maxi dresses

Hello Lovelies!

Maxi dress shopping can be so fun, but it can also be agonizing. ( Ok, maybe that was a little bit melodramatic ) But the truth is, not all maxi dresses are created equal and they don’t all look good on every body type. So, without further ado, lets begin.

1 | Do consider the length.

One thing I see a lot of is unequal lengths in maxi dresses. Some come down to the floor, while other barely make it to your ankles. when buying a maxi, determine what kind of occasion you will be wearing it for. If it’s fancy, you may want to wear heels, so buy a dress with a hemline that touches the floor when your standing in your bare feet. If its for casual wear, then buy one that comes down to touch the top of your feet at least. Anything shorter and it looks like you accidentally shrank it in the dryer.

2 | Don’t buy the wrong size.

I’ve seen this so many times. Maxi dresses are already going to make you look very long, but if the dress is to big, or in some cases too small, it’s going to make you look disproportionate. Try to buy the size that fits you comfortably.

3 | Do think of layering.

Maxi dresses are perfect for transitioning from spring to summer to fall to winter. Think of how the dress will look paired with something over top of it. If it helps, try on outerwear in the dressing room. A fertile dress is a thrifty buy.

4 | Do pick the right neckline.

Let’s face it. Some people look fabulous is strapless, while other look much better with a v-neck neckline. Find whichever one works best for you and stick with it universally.

5 | Don’t be afraid to accessorize.

Making a piece your own with your own accessories is very fulfilling to me. It makes me feel like the piece is now truly mine and not still an item on a store shelf.
