I can’t believe another year has come and gone. I mean, didn’t we just ring in 2017? I remember exactly what I was doing that night, which is kind of funny. I was watching Instagram stories and some sweet young women from my church were live streaming a video of them babysitting. Well, one thing led to another, and someone spilled coffee on the white couch they were all sitting on. Panic set in and I started googling how to get coffee out of couch material. I started commenting on their video ways to remove the coffee without damaging the furniture. There were a lot of options to choose from, but the one that worked was the soapy water poured straight onto the couch and then dabbed off with a cloth.
Funny the things you remember after a year, huh?
One thing I also remember about this year is how I completely stepped away from something I really loved because I just didn’t have the time ( and didn’t have the energy to make the time ) to blog. I decided a week ago that no matter where I am in life, even when I don’t feel like it, I’m going to blog. I am going to make this place something awesome and incredible. I want to build a community of people, all working together, encouraging one another to ‘keep up the good work’. I blogger I follow recently put in one sentence exactly what I needed to hear; ‘blog like you are the only blogger on earth’.
I have a terrible tendency to compare myself to everyone else. I look at where they are in life and wonder why I’m not there as well. Why do I have to wait? Why can’t things work out for me like there are for them? Quite frankly, I haven’t put that much effort into things to really say any of that. I can’t compare myself to the bloggers who have been promoting and producing excellent content, because I haven’t been working a tenth as hard as they are.
Which brings me to my number one 2018 new years goal; to build my blog into a business. Instead of whining about why me, I’m going to start saying ‘yes me!’. I will no longer worry about how many follow or likes or comments someone else may get. Instead, I’m going to focus on connecting with my community ( that’s you! ).
So, this year is going to be different. I’ve talked big before, but this time I’m putting teeth into my goal and am going to make it happen. I really can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store. So many potential adventures just waiting around the corner. I also want to encourage you to think huge this year. Reach beyond what you think you are capable of and just go for it.
On to the outfits above!
I decided to share two outfit inspirations for whatever you are planning to do this new years. Seriously, how pretty is the dress? I’m really loving the midi length style. And I of course incorporated my favorite pleather leggings into my casual outfit.
However you style yourself for your new years celebration, just remember, everything is up to you. Nothing changes without hard work and nothing happens overnight ( something I have to remind myself of daily ). I hope all of you have a wonderful New Year and come and see me in 2018!
