When I come down with a cold, the first I think about is, ‘great, now how am I going to go about my daily routine? I feel horrible and completely unmotivated’. However, after some trial and error, I’ve figured out 5 ways to beat a cold and get me going again.
1 | Stay warm.
This may seem like a no brainer to most of you, but the cooler your body, the harder your immune system has to work to fight off whatever is making you sick. Keeping your body at a warmer temperature will help you fight off sickness much quicker.
2 | Lights out.
Another no brainer, I know, but going to bed nice and early is the best thing for you. Your body recoups in your sleep and the more rest you get, the faster your body can repair itself.
3 | Put decisions on hold.
Don’t try to make huge decisions while your feeling unwell. This just adds undue stress to your body and mind and prolong your illness. A relaxed body and mind heals faster.
4 | Fresh air.
Unless you live in a subzero climate or a smoggy city, going outside is really healthy for you. Stale indoor air can sometimes hold on to the toxins your body is expelling, especially if the air is warmer, like heat. Outside fresh air will help to clear your head a bit and make you feel stronger.
5 | Hot tea.
This is my personal favorite. Whenever I’m sick, tired, sad, listless, etc., I love making myself a cup of tea. I honestly think it’s one of the best ways to beat a cold. Tea is so soothing and relaxing, plus its a great natural decongestant. Bigelow tea is my absolute favorite and what I gravitate towards every time I need to replenish my stash.
