NEW YEAR’S PLANNING

Hello Lovelies!

It’s finally here! The new year is upon us and we are diving straight into January. I see so many different posts on Instagram about what the new year means for different people; some people have a word of the year, some people are exploring new paths, and some are even reinventing themselves and how they write.

For me, the one word that keeps coming to mind for this year is: change. And tons of it.

For the longest time, I have been truly afraid to step out in faith and live my life in a way that was not only fulfilling, but also fun. I would tell myself that exploring the paths around me would only delay the inevitable; I would eventually have to stop day dreaming and settle into a boring, real job. ( To not confuse all of you, blogging is a side hustle for me at the moment. I work a full time job as well, and even though it’s not boring, it’s not the most fulfilling either.)

For some reason, right around the holidays, it hit me like a truck. I needed to start pursuing what I wanted and not what everyone was telling me was the best option. So what if I fall down a few times while trying to climb to the top; that’s why we have arms and hands, so when we fall down we can push ourselves back up again.

This year, I am pushing myself out of my comfort zone and trying some new things, starting with my blog. I have wanted for the longest time to turn this little place into a travel blog, where people can come and read honest reviews of places they can visit. And this year, I am going to start working towards making that a reality. It scares me, but also kind of makes me excited.

All this to say, planning ahead is the only way to truly achieve your goals, and using a good planner is a huge part of that. Here are some of the ways I like to use my planner for planning my week out in advance.

1. Meal planning

I was so bad at this when I first started working. I wouldn’t plan out anything and would end up eating a brownie for lunch and saying that was enough. Well, I finally started planning out my meals ahead of time and it has made all the difference. I will typically sit down on Saturday afternoon and pick a meal. I then write the ingredients down (or just save the recipe in my phone) and buy the groceries on Sunday to either throw in the crock pot or bake in the oven.

2. Budgeting

I’m still learning on this one, as I have the hardest time saving money. But having a nice planner to write out each day of the month where I owe a bill keeps me on track and also keeps me from forgetting when things auto pay and renew subscriptions.

3. Keeping track of blog posts

Whenever I am approached by a company to collaborate, I write down the date and type of post I will need to prepare, so I won’t fall behind and I’ll have right at my finger tips all the info I need for planning out my photo shoot and what the post will day.

So, how are you shaking things up this year? And do you like to use a planner for planning our your week?
